Ok… not really. I’ve just had a fun day playing about with them. I doubt that I’m going to be drawing them straight for a week (I think…) but they are something I like. Tonight, I was lucky enough to cook for a couple of friends who just flew home from their Christmas celebrations, and one of them saw my little elephant… and liked it! She wants me to so an elephant-turtle hybrid… I think that is going to have to be tomorrow’s task, for it is getting a mite too late for it to happen this evening. Well… not if I wish any chance at a successful melding of the two, in any case. That one is going to require a little thought to get right, I believe.
Anyhow, that is it for tonight!
Said the bunneh, as his heart broke into two even pieces. He kept one - the other went to his love, whether he willed it or no. It would be a long time before that shattered portion could be regained, if ever. When a bunny’s heart is broken, it must quest to find the piece which was lost to them. It is not an easy thing to find, especially for a bunny who is so small and so sad, for having lost it in the first place. There are few things in life more disheartening to look upon than a depressed bunny.
Oh my… what an odd little thing to think of today, hmm? I still have bunnies on the brain, it seems! I think I am going to have to search myself, for this little bunny’s heart… It saddens me to see him so sad, sitting there wistfully hoping for the pieces to be stitched back together with fine thread - always to leave a scar, but at least it would be whole again. Being a bunny is not easy, you know.
Its getting closer and closer to the new year, and I can hardly believe that it is nearly 2009 - which just happens to be one year closer to 2010! Side-note, I just used ‘closer’ three times in the same sentence… that may just be a record. Anyhow, I must admit, I find that a little weird (about the year, not the words). Counting down to 2000 really seems not that long ago to me and now we’re nearly into the teens. I think I’ll find it even more odd when we get into the roaring 20’s!

Boxing day is never meant to be a productive day. I deem it so. It is a day for relaxing with your hubby (at least in my case… you may not have a hubby…), sitting back, watching a movie or two and snuggling most of the day away.
So, it is a quick post this evening just to say ‘Merry Christmas’ properly, though it is a day late. So… Merry Christmas all! I hope your year was a good one, and that an even better one will follow, and all that sort of hopeful and happy and positive type stuff I’m meant to say at this time of year. You get the drift!
I thought I’d take a side-step today and show what I was up to this morning. Something that I rather enjoy is taking photographs in Second Life, capturing some of the beautiful worlds and things that people have created in this ‘game’. I use the term game very loosely, mind you.
Anyhow, I decided to pop back to one of the sims that I absolutely adore. It is incredibly well made, and perfect for taking a few photos of my avvie, especially when the blue of my outfit and the blue of the area just matched so perfectly! I did promise no green today, didn’t I? I’m just skipping a little further down the spectrum for you!
Anyhow, the original photo was a bit rougher… I did some retouching to smooth out some of the more major jagged edges and make it more presentable as a ‘finished’ sort of work… though if I am honest with myself, it could rather use a bit more work on it if it were for something important rather than as a replacement for my own desktop background. Now I just have to rearrange a few icons, and I’m sorted.
Oh… and by the way… Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
If I were standing in front of you right this second, I would sigh and say ‘I’m sorry’… followed soon after by a ‘not really, actually, but I feel I should say it anyway.’
You see, these guys are really really fun and full of bunny-like goodness, so I can’t help but put them up. They make me smile. They may not be incredibly deep and meaningful, but I like them anyhow. Perhaps all together they tell a story - I haven’t gotten far enough through this little book to see yet. I guess we’ll just have to see, huh?
So, no apologies and no false regret for me. I’m putting up another bunny, and I am more than happy to do so, at least for now. Next picture though, I really do need to try something without any green at all!
And I’ll be glad when its done, if only so that when I go grocery shopping there isn’t a trillion other people picking up last minute things for Christmas celebrations too.
I feel like a grinch. I actually rather like a lot of Christmas things - I’m one of those odd people who hums carols all year long. I’ve had ‘Santa Baby’ stuck in my head like you wouldn’t believe for the past few weeks. If I still had my Christmas tree (I don’t, I gave it to my sisters a couple of years back) I might even have put it up because I actually -like- decorating it up and making it all pretty.
The stories, some (though not all) of the music, the butter cookies… all that I like. What I don’t like is the crowds of people all scrabbling at the shopping malls along with screaming children who are quite sick and tired of being dragged from place to place… I dunno… just doesn’t do it for me. Even when just nipping down to the supermarket for some extra milk.
Anyhow… this is today’s picture. As promised, its something a bit different from the past few days, though I have stuck with the green pen because it was the first thing at hand to draw with. I was listening to ‘Oh Happy Days’, the Sister Act version as I was drawing it, just in case you were curious. Ahhh, gotta love the classics.
And not just with my late posting of late. I think that this green sketchbook is going to contain bunnies… mostly. Perhaps other characters drawn in the same style, but probably mostly bunnies. I think I need to start throwing up other sketches again, from other places… because lord knows, you’re probably sick of these little sketchbook posts by now. After all, there’s not a huge amount of variety, I guess, when each post has a bunny on it, even if bunnies are quite adorable!
Anyhow, this is today’s bunny. He’s bright eyed, bushy tailed, and just too cute for words. Actually, there are probably a lot of words to cover it, but he is rather cute nonetheless, no?
I’m really enjoying drawing this way at the moment… its as if they are made of delicious fluffly marshmallow with all the distilled cuteness sprinkled on top to taste. And that makes for one tasty little marshmallow indeed.
Alrighty, that is all for tonight - I think I’ll try to make tomorrow’s picture a little less of what I have been giving you over and over for the past few weeks and onto something a little new. Or perhaps I can show you a little sneak peek at the painting I am working on… who knows? I’ll have a think on it and see what I can come up with in the morn.
Ahhh, no horribly late posting for today! Not incredibly early either, but what can you do? Its a weekend and we rearranged the whole lounge-room. Much more open and airy, thank god. I wasn’t 100% happy with the last set-up, and this one is far better. Well, I tihnk so anyway.
Right this second, I am sitting back and watching Road Trip on the other computer. Of all the movies in all the world, there are some that I simply must watch at least a few times a year: Road Trip is one. Empire Records would have to be another of them. They’re absolute classics of the greatest type.
I am a complete sucker for a well done comedy. Throw things like ‘Scary Movie’ and the like out the window though… I want some wit, some class, a few lines that will stay with you til the end of your days or at the very least some intelligence behind some of the humour. That’s not to say that I don’t love the basest type of comedy either, but for a whole movie, it needs a little something extra.
Its even better for me if a movie has some little bits and pieces which only tend to be seen if you actually look for them. Its something that I’ve liked to do every so often with my paintings in the past: hide a little something in it, so that only those who look at it properly, and take it all in will notice. I like the same things in movies - a bear walking in the background of a big extras scene, or an in-joke if you actually read the text on the side of a book in the bookshelf behind the characters… just little things that speak to a sense of thought and playfulness.
One that I heard about was a group of artists which collaborated with tv show producers to insert little bits and pieces into their shows… such as a bedspread covered with a graphical pattern of condom wrappers in the background of a teen’s room. It wasn’t so over the top that it was immediately noticeable, but when you looked closer, it became apparent. Little things like that just make my day.
You know, I’m an evening person. So it is quite often that I don’t notice the time… until it is almost too late. Today is one of those days, and I guess I’m just fortunate that I glanced at the clock and noticed the time in time for me to post a picture on today’s date!
I can’t believe that there is so little time until Christmas - this year really has flown by so incredibly quickly. I can’t believe it’s nearly 2009!
Soooo anyhow… just a short post today. I got some more painting done, and when the piece is completed, I will put it up for you to see. I’ve been taking a few incremental photos, so if they turn out ok, I might do a step-by-step… though needless to say, it leaves out a lot of steps. So far, I’ve taken it with the main background sorted out, and then again with the base layer of colour for the subject… can’t really take pictures in between the two because… well.. sometimes you just have to work fast, and even making time to pick up a camera is too much attention drawn away at the wrong time.
Have a great day, y’all… I need to get to bed!
