Welcome to the gallery section of the site, where you can see some completed works in addition to some of my favourite sketches and so forth. This section still requires a bit of an update, so expect that soon!

I'm currently experiencing some gallery technical difficulties - this section will return soon.

Kat’s artwork draws from a variety of influences, finding snippets of inspiration in just about everything around her; from a random person walking down the street to a story in the fifty cent book of children’s faerie tales she’s just bought at the second hand shop.

Her work at the moment is tending to lie at the intersection of the ‘grown up’ world and that of childhood, sometimes viewing one from the other’s perspective or drawing on the aspects of both to present her works. A fascination with the literature of childhood is becoming a greater focus within her current works in development, especially in revealing the dualistic nature of such stories and fables.

She enjoys playing with the contradictory nature of things, drawing out the hidden nature of something to sit alongside that which tends to be more easily perceived, or sometimes just leaving little hints as to that hidden nature for people to discover, should they look hard enough or find out a little bit more about the work.

On the other side of things, she doesn’t mind celebrating the beautiful or interesting simply because it is beautiful or interesting, allowing the work to develop its own meaning and direction as it grows. She also likes to just have fun - experimenting, playing, and generally doing whatever happens to fascinate her at the time, which can be just about anything.

In addition to her artwork, Kat does also enjoy creating illustrative pieces, making jewellery and as you can see from her blog, just sketching random characters and other bits and pieces that pop into her head.
