EaHH: Here’s the final figures!

Time for some accountability (we all knew it had to come). The grand total for EaHH came to *drumroll please* US$8673.83, which equalled AU$8,337.03 at the time of being transferred out of Paypal. Now to get down to the nitty gritty.

First off, the complete transaction history for the EaHH donation account: EaHH Complete Transaction History. As you can see, there is L$1208 extra currently in the account added since after the finish date – I’ll happily pop that onto the total myself.

Now to show that the money came out of the account, and that my figures, as presented, are accurate. Click any of the images for a larger view:

Unfortunately the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal is not set up to allow donations directly from Paypal, which is why I had the money forwarded to my bank account. I will be posting proof of donation once it arrives into my bank account (some time this week) and it has been properly donated to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal. I’m sorry that the process has taken a while – getting the money from Linden Labs and into Paypal takes a little bit of time – in this case, more than a few days.

I hope that all of the screen-shots and information has gone some way to easing any inquisitive minds that have been curious about whether the money was getting to where it is supposed to be! EaHH: And the Australia Day Concert draws to a close.

My god the last couple of days has just been incredible. 48 hours straight of musicians and performers from around the globe coming together at B&B’s to help raise money for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal as part of EaHH!

I was just blown away. At one point, the sim was packed out with 54 avatars (though I couldn’t be there for the whole thing – it might have been more!). I wish I could have been there for the whole thing. Stupid computers have a way of blowing up at the most inconvenient of times, don’t they?

A very special and heartfelt thanks to Bundy Xue, who organized this incredible concert. Without her organizational skills, music connections, incredible hosting ability and passion for the cause, the Australia Day Concert could not have happened. A big thank-you also to the whole B&B’s crew – they were there the whole time, making sure that everyone was enjoying themselves and encouraging people to donate. Last of all, thank you to the musicians and performers who dedicated their time and their talent to raising money for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal too.

EaHH: Australia Day Concert is Underway!

The Australia Day Flood Relief Benefit is in full swing, and I am happy beyond words… but I’m going to write a few words anyway. As I sit writing this, 54 people are on the sim, the donation booth is getting donations left, right and centre, and the act that just finished (Marky Helstein, Doug Lind in the real world) just blew my mind… my lord everyone, thank-you. Just thank-you.

Make sure you pop by to the Australia Day Concert when you have a chance – you certainly won’t regret it!

EaHH: The Australia Day Benefit is on the Horizon.

When I started arranging Extend a Helping Hand, I thought to myself, ‘Sheesh, I hope a couple of people say yes to me and get on board…’

I hardly could have thought that just a few weeks later, Extend a Helping Hand has raised in excess of US$4800, with still one of our biggest events on the horizon. I have been utterly blessed to have a great group of people around me jumping on board and turning Extend a Helping Hand into something beyond my wildest expectations.

Bundy Xue of B&B’s is one of the people who leaped at the chance to help out, by offering up their beautiful venue and expertise in musician co-ordination. Australia Day will be one to remember, as B&B’s sets the stage for back-to-back live music every hour of the day from 12:00am on the 26th of January right through to 11:59pm on the 27th. That’s 48 hours of incredible LIVE music!

EaHH: The Power of Creativity, to Rise up and Soar.

Second Life is an incredible place. It really is.

One moment you have a little idea, and the next, it shoots off in such a way that you just have to sit and shake your head a little in awe of the incredible power of collective creativity that draws people together here. For those who don’t understand or really ‘get’ Second Life, I know that it is something amazing to behold; even if you ‘get’ it, it still has the ability to take you aback.

Soar is a band which performs in Second Life, and they’ve gotten solidly behind Extend a Helping Hand. This morning, Mariposa Upshaw, manager of Soar dropped a link on me to listen to a song the band had written about the floods up here: Rise, which had also just been announced on Bright Oh’s blog. The song will be played at their performances benefiting the event, including the Australia Day concert which will be absolutely brimming with quality live performances.

Soar is an Australian band, comprising of Charles Somerset, Bright Oh & Experiment Rhode. With a lovely folk feel, the song Rise is a song of hope, and of rebuilding and overcoming disaster with a good dose of Aussie spirit. Beyond being a great song to listen to though, it is also something else: it is a testament to how a virtual community can come together to make a difference.
