Sanu in SL: Give someone your heart.

It was so hard waiting off on releasing these until the weekend. They totally made me laugh with barely contained glee when they were all done and finished. Here’s why:

It almost feels like something has been made whole – a cycle has somehow been completed and come back to the start again. Funny that I should say something so monumental about cute little hearts that people can gift to each other, but it is true!

You see, as a child, I used to draw. I drew a lot. And one of the things that I drew a lot of, was love-heart people. They weren’t all that complicated really – their main shape was a heart, and they had eyes, a mouth and a pair of legs. They were sometimes pudgy, sometimes skinny; sometimes they were smiling and sometimes they wore expressions of anger. It all came down to who the heart was, what their personality was like and how they interacted with the other heart people. Occasionally they had arms, but not often… eyes, mouth and legs were the only necessary elements.

Anyhow, when I completed this little chibi-heart pet, I thought, ‘Wow.’

As a six year old kid, happily drawing on the back of scrap paper and inventing entire societies of love-heart people, I could never have imagined where that would lead. I always wanted to be an artist, but to even think that one day I might be creating a derivative of those first simple characters to sell in an online virtual user-led environment to people all over the world would just have been unfathomable. Kinda makes me wonder where things will be in another twenty year’s time… and whether I will still be creating love-heart characters to make myself smile.

You can pick up your own chibi-heart pet in Second Life now at the mainstore! Go ahead… give someone a heart and brighten up their day.

Oh, and please ignore any errors with the site right now – I’m just doing a bit of an update, and a few things have gone a little wonky. I promise I will get them sorted as soon as I can!

Sanu in SL: Love is in the air!

Sanu in Second Life: Sanura Sakai brings you... love letters! You get an envelope, and anyone who clicks it gets a cute love letter!

I know it isn’t Valentine’s Day, but I say that any time is a good time to express your love and affection for someone. So feeling in a lovey-dovey mood (as you do sometimes), today’s Sanu release includes adorable love letters and love poems!

Sanu in Second Life: Lovely love poems are just what you to brighten up your day and bring a smile to your face.

For both the love letters and the love poems, you receive an envelope, and inside each of those envelopes is an incredibly cute little note that anyone can receive if they give it a click. The love poems take on a ‘Roses are red, Violets are blue’ structure, while the love letters are a bit more free-form.

I had a heap of fun writing them… how can I not? As anyone knows, my products have a tendency to be a bit quirky, so these have poems and letters which span the whole of the love-scale. Some are funny, some are heartfelt, and there’s even a couple of poems in there that seem downright insulting. I mean, with words like ‘poo’ and ‘moo’ rhyming with ‘blue’, you can’t help but work with what you’ve got. Each poem and letter is a lovely surprise.

Stay tuned – these are certainly not the last of the love releases. I’m considering holding back some of the pieces for the second half of the Albero Gatcha Festival, but we’ll see how we go. I might give you a sneak peek sometime soon!

Sanu in SL and Photography: Tastes of Summer.

Kat Johnston Photography: A photograph of plump, juicy strawberries, with one dipped in home-made white chocolate ganache.

Let’s start with a nice little photo I took last night! I really need to get a better camera, better lighting and some reflectors if I plan on doing this all that often – but I still think they turned out pretty great. For a post-baking snack I had some plump, juicy strawberries dipped in some left-over white chocolate ganache which I had made up to top some very tasty cupcakes.

If you’d like a recipe for the ganache, I’ve posted one with this picture on flickr. Ganache is really rather simple to make, is very versatile and tends to impress, too! You can also find the rest of the strawberry pictures there in the set ‘sweet treats’!

Sanu in Second Life: A peapod lounge, bringing together the awesomeness that is peas and lounging!

And here’s the Sanu update for today. There’s actually three colours of the peapod lounges available – all nice, fresh shades of green. This lounge has been in the works for a little while, actually – they were built soon after the yummy peapods were made. I just had to wait a little while to get the perfect system for adding the animations.

Rather than having to rely on pose-balls, these lounges use low-lag scripts which have a menu, allowing anyone who sits on it to adjust their position perfectly using movements in all directions and rotation where needed. That means that it can fit almost any avatar every time! Certainly an improvement on needing to have the owner around to adjust it for you if needed, don’t you think?

Sanu in SL: Yummy peapods, summer flats, and some other cute things!

Sanu in Second Life: Tasty, delicious, yummy peapods! I absolutely love fresh peas, don't you?

It’s a day for a Sanu update, because I’ve been neglect in anything on this blog for a couple of weeks due to my tonsillitis and flu. Urgh… being sick just sucks.

First up, as you can see above, are some yummy little peapods!

Sanu in Second Life: Nothing screams summer fun like some cute flats in pastel shades, don't you think?

Next up… some fun summer flats. It is actually winter here in Australia, but in the states everything is sun and sand at the height of Summer! Therefore, I just had to do some summery releases.

Sanu in Second Life: Who can stop at just one pair of flats? Are you rediculous? Here's some more, with flowers!

Annnnd I couldn’t just stop at one style.

Sanu in Second Life: Actually... I couldn't even stop at two styles of these cute, summery shoes. They're just so cute and fun!

I couldn’t even stop at two. I mean, who can say no to cute summer footwear? A girl can never have enough shoes in Second Life.

Sanu in Second Life: A second series of tiny butterflies... because you can never have too many butterflies at stunningly small proportions!

Moving on, I had to do up a second series of tiny butterflies. Fun colours, a variety of attachment points, and just as cute as can be, the second series are a great addition to the first. Each series comes with fifteen butterflies, so there are now thirty that can be collected!

Sanu in Second Life: And for the final Sanu update today: Tiny dragonflies. I felt I just had to extend my tiny insects range!

For the final Sanu product update for today: tiny dragonflies. I think I want to go through and do up a whole range of tiny insects. I know a lot of people think that they are gross, but at the very least, butterflies and dragonflies are a sure favourite with a variety of people. I’m thinking that ladybugs might be next, or even (although I realize they are not insects) snails. I’ll just have to see how I am inspired when the time comes!

That’s all for the Sanu update today – some of these items are not yet at the mainstore, but are at Summer Bazaar. They’ll all be appearing at the mainstore within a couple of days, however.

Sketch and Sanu: Masks… and Spring.

Kat Johnston Sketch: All masked up... but where to go? I'm not sure that a masquerade ball is an every-day occurance.

Phew! It has been a rather long day, really… running around, buying obscure Japanese and other Asian candy, finding melon mochi, and getting scolded for (yet again) buying something where the package doesn’t explicitly state what I’ll find inside (it had grapes on the packaging, somewhere… surely whatever is inside is somewhat grape flavoured, one would hope). The hubby has come up with this silly rule that I’m not meant to buy something when I don’t actually know what it is.

I, for one, think it makes life interesting.

Ok, so you might end up throwing away bits and pieces. Basil Seed Drink, for example, is not for everyone (it said on the package what it was, so I was allowed to get it… I still haven’t gotten up the courage to try it though). Isn’t that the point though? You try something… you see how it is… and even if you throw it away, you’re that much more experienced because of it.

At the very least, you have a great story to tell somebody in how absolutely weird and not-so-wonderful this random food item was. Worth the investment? Provided you’re not blowing a fortune on food whose packages can only be interpreted in another language… I think so.

Sanu in Second Life: As if a summer skybox wasn't enough... here's one to celebrate Spring. It even comes with flowers, because we all know that flowers are fun!

And now for the Sanu update! I thought that there was really no point in doing two separate posts, so I’m rolling them both into one today.

This is my latest skybox – a Spring themed piece designed to match nicely to the Summer Daydreams Skybox I released a while back. You know that I’m going to have to do Autumn and Winter now that I’ve done both a Spring and a Summer – it just makes sense! That may have to wait for another day though.

That’s all for today!
