  • Sanu in SL: The Miro skins for a touch of Spring.

My husband teases me about this. He really does. Every time I start on something like skins, or hair, or buildings, he’ll go, “Kat, you said that I should beat you if you ever start trying to make <insert item here>.” To which I resoundingly reply, “Shut up. Don’t tell me. I knowwwww!”

Skins are very much one of those things that I said I’d never do.

Luckily though, I often ignore what I’ve said earlier, and do it anyway. So here’s the new release!

Sanu Miro Skin Pale - pretty and ethereal, the promo shot shows the jonquil make-up.

There are four tones, to suit a range of avvies, starting with a nice pale shade.

*Sanu Miro Skin Fair - this time it shows the Jacaranda make-up.

There’s seven make-ups available in each tone – six can be picked up individually, but the seventh can only be obtained by purchasing the fatpack.

Sanu Miro Skin Mid - I love this sign best of all... it shows off the orange blossom make-up.

Each of the skins have four options to cover some of the basics – light brows for blonde and lighter hairs, dark brows for brunettes and darker, no cleavage for those that prefer a more natural look and cleavage for those who want a bit of lift. By having these options on the skin itself, you have the tattoo layer free for other things.

Sanu Miro Skin Tan - Cherry blossom inspired this particular make-up.

So yes. I’ve made skins again. Skins inspired by flowers and Spring-time and frolicking and fun. I’ve even released the shape in-store as well, so that you can get the exact look in the signs with the addition of some hair from Fri.day, eyes by Poetic Color, and outfit by Evie’s Closet.

Teleport to Sanu to try out a demo today!

  • Sanu: Pro-unicorns vs Anti-unicorns… Unicorns win.

Sanu Stuff: Cuppy unicorns… seriously… where do I come up with these ideas?

I hope to the lord above that I’m not committing career suicide by posting this… but my hubby talked me into it!

Second Life is a fascinating place – so many things go on that get no further than a chat with friends over drinks otherwise. I’m not sure if I’m normal in this respect, but ‘pro-unicorn vs anti-unicorn’ is something that I and my friends could happily discuss for a good while… it comes under the same banner as the discussions we sometimes have regarding something like the morality of being with a werewolf – theoretical, but fun. Thing is, in Second Life, there actually are unicorns. And werewolves, for that matter. They’ve even gotten some bad rap in mainstream news some time back – controversy regarding the acquisition of baby unicorns in Second Life if you’re so urged to look it up. Anyhow, back on topic…

A particular shopping district, the Starlust Motel, is currently having a heated debate – and it’s spreading. All over the grid, people are choosing sides, forming factions… in some cases, its all out warfare. I’ve picked my side. Super fun sparkle ponies (with horns) rule – so there! The hubby, on the other hand, is distinctly anti-unicorn. He’s all for the tyrannosaurus, which according to him is the natural enemy of the unicorn. I can see it from both sides, however, for now, I’m going with the unicorns until someone convinces me otherwise or I have the unresistable desire to do up some anti-unicorn propaganda to brainwash the masses too.

As a result, I made a whole set to celebrate unicornyness! Top to toe, all you have to add is hair, skin and eyes… perhaps some clothes if the cream-puffs don’t do it for you… lets face it, they are rather, uhhh, revealing.

So… I guess the real question is… which way do you swing? Pro-unicorn, or anti-unicorn?

    That’s all for today, folks!

  • Ok, I admit it. I’m a geek.

Kat Johnston – Ok, I admit it… I’m a big ole geek, complete with SL account and an enjoyment of making SL jewelry. On the up side, you get to see it. Yay!

Ok, so I do play Second Life… want to know why? On top of the fact that is is a glorified chat program with pretty pictures (and virtual fashion one wishes could and would look good on you in real life), I get to make said pretty pictures (and fashion) myself. My activities of the day have been rather centred around making some virtual jewelry, so rather than show you a sketch, I thought I’d throw up this picture instead.

You might want to zoom in closer (picture should be clickable) to get a better look, because the detail is rather tiny. I made a full set, top to toe, with facial piercings, earrings, choker, so on and so forth, all with three levels of glow to make them all pretty pretty. A friend was looking for something and it didn’t sound like she was going to find what she’d want, so I thought I might as well make up a set to pass away the time instead of hunting high and low.

I first got into Second Life about a year ago, as I was doing an assignment about the intellectual property right issues with regards to virtual worlds, with a particular focus on Second Life, since all of the content is created by the players themselves. I decided that rather than just reading up about it, I might as well have a peek inside the ‘game’ as well. I use the word ‘game’ rather loosely, of course, as it kinda is just what you make of it. For me, it is about creating pretty things (from landscaping islands through to creating intricate jewelry, etc), for others it can be things like roleplaying elves or dragons, or becoming a virtual entrepreneur selling your wares or dealing with real-estate and so on.

Anyhow… I did my research, wrote my paper, got an A and decided to stick around. I’ve been entirely suckered into the creative aspects of the game and am quite happy to sit under a virtual tree and chat while I make pretty virtual jewelry.
