  • EaHH: And the donation is made.

And things finally draw to a close. The donation for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal was made today – I really should have done it yesterday, but considering I was struggling just to breathe correctly (yes, the flu was that brutal) I figured you’d all forgive me for waiting until I could walk without looking like a half-risen zombie with respiratory problems. Thankfully I feel much better today!

So, onto the story. I made the donation in person, because I was unable to do so online (bank-account limits and all that), so I headed on down to the Commonwealth.

EaHH: At the Commonwealth, gearing up to make the transaction.

I was greeted by Steph, who was my awesome teller of the day. She was also kind enough to let me take a couple of pictures while she was doing the transaction, since I didn’t appear to be casing the joint and explained how I’d be doing up a blog-post for the people who donated.

EaHH: Sorting out the transaction details on the computer.

She filled out the deposit slip and tippity-tapped at the computer, going, ‘Wow!’ at the amount. I explained how it had been raised, and she said that she was awed at how generous everyone had been with the appeal.

EaHH: Checking the details - because you have to be sure when you're depositing $8350!

And here’s Steph again, checking my license to make sure that I am really who I said I am. After all, when you’re depositing a sum like that, you want to make sure that everything is 100% legit.

EaHH: The moment we have all been waiting for. The reciepts!

And the moment that we’ve all been waiting for: the receipts! Just click the picture to get a larger view.

I decided to round up, so the donated amount was AU$8350. In case you were curious (since the account number is partially blocked out) the full details for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal are as follows (because you can still donate!):

Account Name: Premiers Disaster Relief Appeal
    BSB: 064 013
    Account number: 1000 6800
    Bank: Commonwealth Bank

I will also send them away to get a proper tax receipt also, in case further proof is required by any of you to know that it did, in fact, get to where it needed to go. The tax receipt might take a little while though, as it is a paper mail-away process. I’ll just update this post to show it when it arrives.

Phew… we did it guys! Thank you again for your generous donations and contributions to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal by taking part in Extend a Helping Hand. It went far better than I could have possibly imagined, and it would not have been possible at all if it weren’t for all of you. Thank you.

  • EaHH: Bunny Auction an Incredible Success.

A charity bunny auction was held this evening at Shamrock Stables in collaboration with Ozimals.  To say it was a success would be a massive understatement.

100% of the proceeds were put towards EaHH’s collection to be donated to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal, and all bunnies to be auctioned were donated by some of the most talented breeders across the grid. Each of these incredible bunnies went for varying amounts – one even as high as L$62,000 (approximately US$237.12), and there were a couple that weren’t far behind.

The grand total bought in by the auction was L$388,302 (approximately US$1,485.01), and that doesn’t even including the raffles that are being run along-side it and have not yet closed.

Even if you weren’t able to join in on the bidding in the auction, there’s still time to get in on the bunny fun. The grand prize raffle will go for a full week before a winner is announced, and tickets are only L$100 each, with all of that money going to this great cause. You can get a full list of prizes in the grand prize pack if you go visit the raffle board, but be assured, it is an incredible pack including elites, food, a naughty and nice sets and more. Certainly worth your chances, in my books! Grab a ticket at Shamrock Stables!

I’d just like to say a big thank-you to Candy, Malk, Angelique, Ever, and everyone who bid, donated, or just showed up. You have no idea just how awed I was at your generosity. It just goes to prove, time and time again, that little things (and not so little things) can make a big difference, especially here in Second Life.

Extend a Helping Hand: Raising funds for the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal.

Edit: The event has now been extended to the 8th of February! If you’d like to get involved as a second-round vendor, to be set up by the 25th of Jan, please pick up an info pack at the Sanu mainstore (it’s in the white box).

Many of you may have heard about the massive flooding that is being experienced by those here in Queensland, Australia. In my effort to assist in raising funds for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal, I’ve put on an event which I have titled Extend a Helping Hand.

On the day of the event opening, the flooding hit Brisbane, my home-town – something I hardly expected when I started organizing the event. By that point, 75% of the state had been declared a disaster zone – thousands upon thousands of lives had been ruined, homes destroyed, and livelihoods lost. This event is my own little way to try to give to those who have lost so much. I am incredibly fortunate that I am not one of those people myself.

To provide complete transparency to this process, transaction history for all donations will be provided at the close of the event here at http://katjohnston.com. I am willing to provide ABN (Australian Business Number) details if needed, to show that I am who I say I am, and that I will do what I say I am going to do: after all, we all want to be assured that the person we are trusting with our money is truly a legitimate entity. That is one of the main reasons that I am putting my real-life name behind this event.

If you’d like to get involved in any way, please IM or drop a notecard on my Second Life Avatar, Sanura Sakai and I will send you a full information package.
