  • EaHH: And the Australia Day Concert draws to a close.

My god the last couple of days has just been incredible. 48 hours straight of musicians and performers from around the globe coming together at B&B’s to help raise money for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal as part of EaHH!

I was just blown away. At one point, the sim was packed out with 54 avatars (though I couldn’t be there for the whole thing – it might have been more!). I wish I could have been there for the whole thing. Stupid computers have a way of blowing up at the most inconvenient of times, don’t they?

A very special and heartfelt thanks to Bundy Xue, who organized this incredible concert. Without her organizational skills, music connections, incredible hosting ability and passion for the cause, the Australia Day Concert could not have happened. A big thank-you also to the whole B&B’s crew – they were there the whole time, making sure that everyone was enjoying themselves and encouraging people to donate. Last of all, thank you to the musicians and performers who dedicated their time and their talent to raising money for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal too.

    Thank you so much!

  • EaHH: Australia Day Concert is Underway!

    [image title=”EaHH: Australia Day Benefit Concert in Full Swing.” size=”large” id=”2498″ align=”center” linkto=”default” ]

EaHH: Australia Day Benefit Concert in Full Swing.

The Australia Day Flood Relief Benefit is in full swing, and I am happy beyond words… but I’m going to write a few words anyway. As I sit writing this, 54 people are on the sim, the donation booth is getting donations left, right and centre, and the act that just finished (Marky Helstein, Doug Lind in the real world) just blew my mind… my lord everyone, thank-you. Just thank-you.

Make sure you pop by to the Australia Day Concert when you have a chance – you certainly won’t regret it!

  • EaHH Announcement: We’ve been featured in the news!

EaHH: A Jar full of hugs for an excellent cause.

The pic features the ‘Jar Full of Hugs’ by A.D.D Andel and the ‘Deluxe Fairy Tale Gown’ by Deviance… because I just think it’s a great idea to have a picture with the post.

So anyhow… big news, everybody! Our efforts with Extend a Helping Hand has been featured in the news at both ninemsn.com.au and brisbanetimes.com.au (and a few other places, too, but the story is the same). Just click on either link to go to the stories, and have a little read.

As everyone knows, there is a lot that a story can’t cover, so let me get a couple of things out of the way right now: thank you to everyone who has taken a part in organizing or participating in Extend a Helping Hand. I know that the thank-yous are a little early, but I just want to make special mention of a few people while those articles are still fresh.

    • To Andel Rhiadra, a big thank-you for donating the event hall location, and for being right on board from the very first ‘I wonder if I should…’.
    • To December Larkham, who has been an excellent event manager and kept me sane.
    • To Mariposa Upshaw, for giving me the connections I needed to make music a big part of this fund-raising effort.
    • To Bundy Xue, without whom the Australia Day Flood Relief Benefit simply could not have occurred (her organizational ability is just stunning).
    • To Serenity Semple for being there when I’ve felt close to pulling my hair out.
    • To Iki Akiri for spending that tension-filled day of the 11th at the event hall with me, while our city was being flooded – until she had to be evacuated out!
    • To every vendor who has taken the time to put a product together to fund-raise for the cause.
    • To every musician, singer, artist, dj, event-holder and donation-point for dedicating your time, effort and locations to raising money.
    • To every blogger for promoting the event, and all others who have spread the word.
    • To every single person who has donated so far and will do so for the weeks to come: every single linden counts.
    • And most importantly, to my husband. Because he’s had to put up with me during all of this!

I’m sure I’ve left someone or something out. To write everything I actually need to write here would take up more space than any normal person would happily read, but I hope I’ve gotten the general idea across: thank you everyone for making this event great and getting us to where we are now.

We’re quickly approaching US$5000 raised for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal – let’s power forward in these last couple of weeks and blow that figure out of the water!

Oh, and quickly: go check out the article, Virtual world reaches out to flood victims!

  • EaHH: Bunny Auction an Incredible Success.

A charity bunny auction was held this evening at Shamrock Stables in collaboration with Ozimals.  To say it was a success would be a massive understatement.

100% of the proceeds were put towards EaHH’s collection to be donated to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal, and all bunnies to be auctioned were donated by some of the most talented breeders across the grid. Each of these incredible bunnies went for varying amounts – one even as high as L$62,000 (approximately US$237.12), and there were a couple that weren’t far behind.

The grand total bought in by the auction was L$388,302 (approximately US$1,485.01), and that doesn’t even including the raffles that are being run along-side it and have not yet closed.

Even if you weren’t able to join in on the bidding in the auction, there’s still time to get in on the bunny fun. The grand prize raffle will go for a full week before a winner is announced, and tickets are only L$100 each, with all of that money going to this great cause. You can get a full list of prizes in the grand prize pack if you go visit the raffle board, but be assured, it is an incredible pack including elites, food, a naughty and nice sets and more. Certainly worth your chances, in my books! Grab a ticket at Shamrock Stables!

I’d just like to say a big thank-you to Candy, Malk, Angelique, Ever, and everyone who bid, donated, or just showed up. You have no idea just how awed I was at your generosity. It just goes to prove, time and time again, that little things (and not so little things) can make a big difference, especially here in Second Life.
