  • Sanu in SL: Pretzel Sticks and Fun Lipsticks!

It totally slipped my mind to announce the pretzel sticks here on my blog… so first things first:

Sanu in SL: Pretzel sticks are tasty as! You can't just stop at one.

I’m going to Japan in just a couple of weeks, and one of the things that I’m going to be looking forward to is pocky – a type of dipped pretzel/biscuit stick that comes in a multitude of fun flavours. Did you know that you can even get special flavoured pocky depending on what region of Japan you are in? For example, in Nagano there is grape pocky, and in Hokkaido you can get yubari melon flavour. You can read more about them on Wiki.

And now for my latest release: lipsticks!

Sanu in SL: Lipstick you can carry anywhere... and that delivers a delicious kiss on a click!

These lovely lippies hang on a cute little string around your neck… and the even better thing is that anyone who clicks it will get a wonderful little kiss on the cheek. Cute, huh?

Annnnnd I couldn’t just stop at one set of shades…

Sanu in SL: For the more conservative, these are the classic lipstick shades, rather than the fancy party colours!

So I made two sets. One for the vivid shades, and another for the classics. What can I say? I love these lipsticks so much I needed to do a huuuuuge range of colours to do them justice!

You can get your own Sanu lippie necklace today – teleport to the mainstore now.

  • Sanu in SL: Yummy peapods, summer flats, and some other cute things!

Sanu in Second Life: Tasty, delicious, yummy peapods! I absolutely love fresh peas, don’t you?

It’s a day for a Sanu update, because I’ve been neglect in anything on this blog for a couple of weeks due to my tonsillitis and flu. Urgh… being sick just sucks.

First up, as you can see above, are some yummy little peapods!

Sanu in Second Life: Nothing screams summer fun like some cute flats in pastel shades, don’t you think?

Next up… some fun summer flats. It is actually winter here in Australia, but in the states everything is sun and sand at the height of Summer! Therefore, I just had to do some summery releases.

Sanu in Second Life: Who can stop at just one pair of flats? Are you rediculous? Here’s some more, with flowers!

Annnnd I couldn’t just stop at one style.

Sanu in Second Life: Actually… I couldn’t even stop at two styles of these cute, summery shoes. They’re just so cute and fun!

I couldn’t even stop at two. I mean, who can say no to cute summer footwear? A girl can never have enough shoes in Second Life.

Sanu in Second Life: A second series of tiny butterflies… because you can never have too many butterflies at stunningly small proportions!

Moving on, I had to do up a second series of tiny butterflies. Fun colours, a variety of attachment points, and just as cute as can be, the second series are a great addition to the first. Each series comes with fifteen butterflies, so there are now thirty that can be collected!

Sanu in Second Life: And for the final Sanu update today: Tiny dragonflies. I felt I just had to extend my tiny insects range!

For the final Sanu product update for today: tiny dragonflies. I think I want to go through and do up a whole range of tiny insects. I know a lot of people think that they are gross, but at the very least, butterflies and dragonflies are a sure favourite with a variety of people. I’m thinking that ladybugs might be next, or even (although I realize they are not insects) snails. I’ll just have to see how I am inspired when the time comes!

That’s all for the Sanu update today – some of these items are not yet at the mainstore, but are at Summer Bazaar. They’ll all be appearing at the mainstore within a couple of days, however.

  • Sanu: Limited Editions and New Releases

Sanu Stuff: Geartime Locket Set to match the past Geartime Monocle (no longer available)

Some more Sanu stuff for today, and fun things besides! Today I’ve released a couple new items, one of them being another limited edition release: the Geartime Locket set. This set perfectly matches the Geartime monocle, which is no longer available for purchase. Only 50 will be sold, only 42 are left at the second of this posting, so you’d better move quick if you want it!

Sanu Stuff: Signage for the Shimmer Monocle set… warm, refined, simply divine.

Last night I was playing around, making more pretty things… pretty things are pretty, after all. This monocle set was the result of that playing. I may yet do a full additional set to match these monocles, because I think that I can make something quite refined to match. I love how the rich, deep copper and the lighter blush of the pink compliment each other so beautifully.

Anyhow, that’s it for the Sanu releases today. Stay tuned for some sketches!

  • Just testing out a new pen… don’t you love blue?

    [image title=”Kat Johnston Sketch – this is maggie… I was testing out a new pen.” size=”large” id=”1097″ align=”center” alt=”Kat Johnston Sketch – this is maggie… I was testing out a new pen.” linkto=”viewer” ]

I was wandering casually up and down the aisles at the supermarket no more than a block away from my home, perusing the shelves stacked full of various things splashed with a gaudy display of imagery supposedly intended to urge me to buy them, to set them above and beyond their paler, dowdier cousins. And yet, there tucked away in a dusty corner of the stationary section with a home-brand label on them lay a set of ‘5 gel ink pens’, rather modestly sealed in their little plastic pocket. They were thirty cents. I needed them – not need need, but wanted nonetheless.

Therefore, after stuffing my basket full of all the strict necessities (you know… feta, lettuce, a kilo of stuffed green olives…) and my thirty cent set of gel ink pens, I paid for my goods and headed home. The groceries went away, lunch was prepared… two turkey salad sandwiches, in case you were curious… and I skipped downstairs, plonked my plate down, took a delicious first bite and reached for my sketchbook.

You see, the fun thing about new pens, is finding out just what their quirks are, quite what the colour is like… quite how you’re going to use them. You see, not all pens are created equal – the smooth, confident strokes of one just may not feel comfortable with another. On top of that, there is the colour – the blue of this particular pen makes me all gooey on the inside. Its a perfect, rich, gorgeous shade of blue, rather than a pale, washed out imitator of such a brilliant hue. Oh the disappointment of finding out that that perfect looking pen has uninspiring ink! Such things are a travesty.

Anyhow… above was the test piece for one of my five gel ink pens… though I really only need to test three – luckily for me, for my thirty cents I got blue, black and even a nice looking red!

On the Sanu front, I’ve just released my new set – two sets, actually, though they are really the one split into two parts. The bunny featured just a couple of days ago is the focus, which, if you buy both parts contains a massive 28 pieces. Here’s a couple of images of them, for those who haven’t checked them out in store yet.

Sanu Stuff: the signage for the Cameo set part 1.

Gotta love a jewelry set that comes complete with mini top-hats and finely detailed eye-patches, yes? Well… I think so, anyway. Sorry, you may just have to zoom in close to see any detail on these ones… I told you the other day they were small!

Sanu Stuff: The second image for the Sanu Cameo set… this time, part 2!
  • Please excuse the mess as we remodel.

Kat Johnston Sketch – look! Its a little bitty owl. Isn’t he ohhhh so cute? I think I need to do some more owls…

I actually meant to draw this little picture earlier today, but it was not until James inadvertently reminded me by doing something absolutely unrelated to either owls or baths that I remembered that I had to. You see, last night I was taking a nice relaxing bath, sans bubbles, and dozing away. Entirely focused on nothing in particular, my head lolled to the side and a little owl popped out at me from the tiling.

His eyes went wide, quite startled at being found within the unevenly glazed surface of ceramics stretching along the wall. ‘Oh, oh my!’ said he, fluffing his feathered wings, ‘I certainly didn’t mean to disturb you.’

‘Oh, no bother,’ said I, ‘Please, sit a while and talk with me?’

So he did, and it was rather an interesting conversation, when all is said and done. There is a lot that a little owl within a tile knows, for although he exists only by a trick of the light and stray smattering of a darker shade upon light, he actually seems rather well versed in the ways of the world. That said, he is an owl. They’re meant to be smart!

    Sanu Stuff: a close-up of a work in progress… a locket with a difference.

Ok, talk of bathroom banter with imaginary owls aside, onto a little bit about Sanu today. The picture above is a capture I took today of a little something I’m working on – a cameo set featuring a bunny I recently put together for the project. Although in this image it seems of a relatively decent size, it is as tiny as can be – I do so love to torture those teensie tiny prims, I do!

Its a lot of work, but I have to say… the results are just as I wished them, at least at this point. Elegant, refined, ridiculously over-detailed with teensie tiny pieces and a touch of humor to boot. Well… that’s Sanu for you!
